Wheelchair lending program in Surat

We lend wheelchairs for a month at a time to people who need one and cannot easily get one. It is a charity loan, not a commercial rental.

Open for requests

How it works

Every wheelchair is meant to help more than one person, so we lend each for one month against a refundable deposit. We started with a small number of wheelchairs, so we cannot say yes to everyone.

  1. Call us or send the form

Use the number or the form on the contact page. We answer calls in our calling hours. Online requests are open all day.

  2. Wait for our reply

We look at each request by need, documents and availability. A reply is not a promise, so please do not plan on a yes.

  3. Meet us in Surat

We hand over wheelchairs in Surat. For security we do not publish the address. We share the meeting place by call or message, ahead of time.

  4. Take the wheelchair home

After you pay the refundable deposit, the wheelchair is handed over within 3 working days of approval.

  5. Return it, or ask to renew

After a month, bring it back or ask to renew. Renewal is not guaranteed. If someone new needs it more, they get it.

Bring these, all originals

  • Aadhaar card
  • PAN card
  • Light bill
  • Doctor's documents showing the need
  • Deposit, the amount is told on the call
  • 4 passport-size photos
  • Anything else we name on the call or message

Please understand

  • Approval is not guaranteed. It depends on several criteria.
  • We have a small number of wheelchairs. If all are out, new requests wait.
  • Renewals depend on availability and on who needs it most.
  • We decide in person, case by case.

Where we work

Our wheelchairs are handed over in Surat. If you live elsewhere in India you may still write to us, but we cannot promise a wheelchair unless you can collect it in Surat.

The deposit and our funds

The deposit is refundable and is returned when the wheelchair comes back. The wheelchairs are bought with donations the trust receives, and every rupee we receive is used for the trust's charitable work. Details are on our transparency page.

Questions we are often asked

Is this a rental?

No. It is a charity loan. You pay a refundable deposit, which is returned when you return the wheelchair.

Who can borrow a wheelchair?

Anyone who truly needs one and can show it with documents. We decide in person, case by case, by need.

How long can I keep it?

One month. You can ask to renew, but renewal depends on availability and on who needs it most.

I live outside Surat. Can I apply?

You may write to us, but we hand over wheelchairs in Surat only. We cannot promise one unless you can collect it there.

How soon will I get it?

Once your request is approved, the wheelchair is handed over within 3 working days.

Why do you ask for Aadhaar and PAN?

So the few wheelchairs we have reach people who truly need them, and are not taken by anyone who only wants to save money.

What if all wheelchairs are lent out?

You join the waiting list. When one comes back, we give it to the person who needs it most, not simply the first in line.
